 "The Minister of Communications explained special tasks for the development of the country's communication infrastructure," Hamid Fattahi said at the unveiling ceremony of the IXP International Data Exchange Center (IXP International) in the Payam Special Economic Zone. In the past year, after preliminary studies and approval of the document by the Supreme Council of Cyberspace, the launch of this project was on the agenda of the Infrastructure Communications Company.

The head of the Infrastructure Communications Company emphasized: Last year, the mother data exchange center of Martyr Sardar "Haj Qasem Soleimani" was set up, and after that, the establishment and operation of an international data exchange center in the special area of ​​information technology was on the agenda.

The Deputy Minister of Communications added: "According to the latest statistics, the bandwidth of the National Information Network has increased from 200 Gbps to 2,000 Gbps in this period, which is a very surprising success." This amount of content production is now done in the context of the national information network, the main reason for which is the creation of data exchange centers.

Fattahi emphasized: in the studies carried out for the approval of the national document of the information network, a part was dedicated to the construction of an international data exchange center. This center is ready for operation and opening today in the special economic zone. The most important effect of creating this center is to create an international market for domestic content producers to provide the conditions for them to provide better quality content to the customer.

The Deputy Minister of Communications stated: "In addition, we can now host part of the content and data that is produced abroad and they are interested in inside the country." This will allow those interested in foreign content to receive the service they want with better quality and cheaper price.

Explaining another goal they have pursued since setting up the center, Fattahi said: "Our other goal is to build the infrastructure to prepare for the removal of the international bandwidth monopoly." Following this goal, in the last two years, we have taken effective measures, such as the liberalization of the International Voice, which have had good commercial implications for the private sector. International bandwidth trade liberalization will also take place soon.

He added: "We are now able to exchange data directly with the two neighboring countries of Iraq and Afghanistan with a capacity of 10 Gbps and the connection of the other four countries will be established in the next month."

"International Data Exchange Center", in addition to providing the basis for the export of content services of content producers, is an important step in removing the monopoly of importing international bandwidth.

One of the infrastructural components of the document approved by the National Information Network Master Plan and Architecture is a center called International Data Exchange (IXP International), which opened today as a special area for information technology.

The services of this center in the field of technology are like the services that the special economic zones of the country allocate to industries. As in the Special Economic Zones, some preferences and exemptions are provided for different sectors, members of the High Council of Cyberspace and the experts who worked on this document have concluded that setting up such a space is essential for the development of a national information network.

By setting up this center, the domestic producer can make the content he has produced available to customers abroad. Domestically produced content can reach international customers with the best quality and the cheapest price through this data center.
